Accept  Donations on your web site

Add a PayPal Donations button and cover those Web Site Costs!

Have you noticed web sites which have a PayPal Make a Donation Button?

The button allows visitors to the site to easily donate money to the webmaster of the site. Typical web sites that would request donations would fall into the following categories -

A not for profit charity site / a site that provides some sort of free download whether it's software or an eBook / a personal site that has unique interesting content.

PayPal Donations is a low cost way for you to accept credit card and bank account donations. Integrate PayPal Donations with your web site in a few easy steps

What are the benefits of using PayPal

Save time and money collecting donations with PayPal:

• Easy to implement - cut and paste the code.

• No up-front costs - you'll enjoy the same low fee schedule used when you receive other PayPal payments

• Collect with ease - PayPal maintains detailed transaction records on our web site

• Freedom for your donors - donors can choose the amount of their secure donation, or you can set a fixed amount

So cover those web hosting and domain name renewal costs, follow this guide and add a PayPal donations button to your web site.

Easier than you think

It's a lot easier than you might think. Pointme2it has a donations button on the 'Make Money at Home with eBay' page by way of example.

Before we start you will need a PayPal account if you don't already have one. If you do, just scroll down to Step 1.

Sign up for a free PayPal Premier Account, which allows individuals to accept credit and debit cards.

If it's free how do they make their money? They take a small percentage commission on each transaction - sign up and learn more at PayPal.com/uk

Unlike high street shops which pay monthly fees to a company such as Streamline for their Debit  / Credit Card machine. PayPal has no monthly fee, it's a pay as you go service, you only pay when you receive money. It's free to send money.

So when money is received a small percentage commission is automatically deducted by PayPal.  The remaining money sits in your PayPal account. You can then transfer this money to your bank account via the PayPal interface.

It's a quick easy to use system which was popularised on eBay and now in widespread use on the internet and beyond.

Put the button on your site

Back to getting a Donations Button. Sign in to your PayPal account and follow these simple steps.

Step 1: Implement Donations

To use PayPal to collect donations on your website, follow these steps:

After logging in to PayPal, go to the Donations Page. This can be found as follows - from the home page click on the Merchant Tools tab at the top. Then select Donations in the 'Key Features' box over on the right hand side.

Enter your information as directed on screen.

Copy and paste the HTML code automatically generated by PayPal into your website.

If you do have any problems it's worth trying the button without encryption.

That's it, no more Steps, best of luck!

Did you find this article useful ? Yes ! Then why not give the Pointme2it donations button a go :-)
