Make Money at Home with eBay  ebay

What's covered in this article  - eBay Insight, New to eBay, Already an eBay User, How eBay started.

eBay Insight

For most folks eBay is a fun site where you can easily find bargains of almost anything.  For others it's a full time business opportunity.

Recent news coverage reports households gaining hundreds of pounds of additional income each year selling surplus goods on eBay.

Business author and consultant, Alex McMillan, recommends setting up an eBay business to help in the move from employee to self employed.

In the UK alone there are 15 million eBay customers, and some 233 million registered users worldwide.

New to eBay?

Highly recommended is eBay's own tour which helps explain how it all works. You'll find plenty of interesting and helpful information, take the eBay tour here.

Having had great fun on eBay over the last few years I have compiled my experience into my own eBook to help others. So take the tour, sign up as a new user, and download my free eBook.

You can download this super free eBook by clicking the link below

Beginners Guide to eBay – What you should know!

(Right Click - Save Target As or Left Click and when Adobe Reader opens hit ‘Save As’ )

You will need the free Adobe Acrobat Reader software to view it. You will likely already have this on your PC,  if not you can download it free here at Adobe.com

If you liked the eBook, then please use the button below, any donation is gratefully received.

This eBook will give you a head start and you'll be turning some of those unwanted gifts into cash very soon. You will be amazed at what people buy on eBay, what you perceive as having little value is often much more valuable to others than you would think.

Although it's eBay.co.uk that you register with, ebayers from the US , Europe and World-wide can search and bid on your items. Of course you can choose only to sell in the UK, or in any other countries or continents you choose as you list each individual item for sale.

I've sold items all over Europe and the United States without trouble. For overseas sales I only accept PayPal which makes taking international payments from credit and debit cards easy.

The PayPal  Premier Account is free to sign up for and allows individuals to accept credit and debit cards. If it's free how do they make their money. They take a small percentage commission on each transaction - learn more at PayPal.co.uk

Already an eBay user?

Great to have you on board, part of this thriving community. If you haven't already downloaded my eBook I would do that now. Please don't be put off by the ‘Beginners’ title as there are lot's of valuable hints and tips for seasoned ebayers.

One Tip being, how to change your eBay User Name while keeping your feedback. Many I'm sure will have picked an embarrassing, cringe worthy user name and wish now they could change it.

Search Tips

Here’s some really useful search tips for whether you are searching on eBay or Google.

Find a complete phrase - type “This was their finest hour” Did you get who it was correct?
Or “Star Wars” the quotes means it’s the exact phrase that’s searched for.
Teachers and Lecturers use this trick to spot copying (Plagiarism).
Another great trick is to exclude a word from a search

E.g. Bass can either relate to fishing or music so if you want fishing related search - type bass -music (no space between the - and the excluded word)

Testimonials -

Alex McMillan’s excellent - Entrepreneurship book advocates starting an eBay business even if eBay itself is not your ultimate goal, more just a step on the way. As Alex says "you can gain experience of being in business for yourself without risking the house"

How eBay Started - Background

eBay is The World's Online Marketplace with a global customer base of 233 million. Founded by Pierre Omidyar in 1995, eBay has created a powerful marketplace for the sale of goods and services by a passionate community of individuals and small businesses. eBay now has a global presence in 37 markets, including the United States.

As an early Internet enthusiast, Pierre knew that people needed a central location to buy and sell all kinds of items on a level playing field and to meet other users with similar interests. He started eBay to fulfil this need.

At the time, Pierre's fiancée (now wife) was an avid Pez™ (sweet dispenser) collector. She was having trouble finding people to trade with, and Pierre thought eBay might be the answer to her problems.

On any given day, there are millions of items listed on eBay across thousands of diverse categories, including antiques, toys, books, computers, sports, photography and electronics, amongst many others.
